This website is run by enthusiasts in the hope of bringing Loughborough’s most famous landmark into the digital age.

Information regarding the Carillons in the British Isles was put together using data from The Guild of Carillonneurs in North Amercia website.

The mapping feature is with thanks to Google Maps and Mike Williams for his Google Maps API Tutorial.

Images on the site have either been taken by people involved with the Carillon in some way or have been reproduced from Google Images and Yahoo’s Flickr.

If you would like to send us some pictures of the Carillon to use on this site please email them to webmaster@loughborouhcarillon.com or read our guide on how to submit your photos to Flick and have them appear on our site automatically. This is the prefered method.

If we have used one of your photos without permission please email webmaster@loughborouhcarillon.com and we will remove it for you.

The domain name loughboroughcarillon.com was registred through Go Daddy and only cost $8.95 USD = £4.87 GBP.

The website is hosted on a Linux Red Hat server at EV1 Servers in Dallas, Texas.

The content management system powering the site is Word Press, an open source Blogging tool written in PHP and using a MySQL database.

The markup language used on this website validates to web standards, we have taken our time to prepare this website in order to make it accessible to all.

We ran accessibility tests from Silktide.com who said:

“All webpages were found to be fully compliant with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and therefore likely not in violation of the British Disability Discrimination Act. Pages make proper use of the latest XHTML standards.“

We also ran tests at ContentQuality.com who confirmed we also passed the US Section 508, W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines plus Priority 1, 2, and 3.

Weather data:

The weather report is based on METAR data from Nottingham East Midlands Airport from http://weather.noaa.gov/ this may be a few miles away but it is the closest weather feed I could find and the most accurate and easy to implement. More info.
