My Job Makes the Local News!
An interesting and unexpected article appeared in the Loughborough Echo on Friday 4th January. As far as I know, I (Caroline Sharpe) am a carillonnuer and Lynne Morgan is a carillonneur, and we play the carillon at the war memorial in Loughborough, making us suitable candidates for the “vacant post” (one would have thought)!
It is true that no official appointment has been made, but I wouldn’t want any one to get the wrong impression; the Carillon is still played regularly each week.
While I’m here I’ll just say how great it was to see some visitors to the tower when I played my special Christmas recital. Visitors came from outside of Loughborough for the occasion, after hearing about the recital on Radio Leicester. Thank you radio Leicester for mentioning us. It’s a pity the Loughborough Echo didn’t find the event newsworthy enough to publish. Maybe next year eh?
