MONDAY 16TH JULY
Councillor Mike Jones, chairman of Leicestershire County Council, and his wife, Marj, attended the first recital of the week. They sang along to much of the programme,We’ll Gather Lilacs going down particularly well. Jerusalem was played at the request of Mike Jones, and everyone in the clavier room joined in the singing with gusto!
TUESDAY 17TH JULY
The bells began, and the rain poured down. Still we had some visitors who were experiencing the carillon being played for the first time. They braved the lightening (and the bells) and made it to the top of the tower for the view…of the rain.
Brian Saddington played and the rain held off, giving lots of people the opportunity to sit in the park and enjoy the recital. There were lots of visitors…
…including this couple from Market Harborough, who had travelled over for the occasion (brolly at the ready!).
THURSDAY 19TH JULY
Another sunny afternoon brought lots of visitors to the park and tower for Ray Aldington’s recital.
FRIDAY 20TH JULY
Mike Boyd came from Saltey to play a recital.
It was pouring with rain but there was still some passing traffic through the park and some people enjoying the music from their sheltered spot in the bandstand.
SATURDAY 21ST JULY
Trevor Workman made it to the tower through the rain and floods and treated the town to a recital.
Even the floods didn’t deter visitors to the park!
SUNDAY 22ND JULY
Isaac Wong played the final recital of the week and entertained lots of visitors, including the Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor Joe Tormey.
